Lulled into a false sense of unseasonably warm temperatures it was a shock to the system for winter to bite back this week. The thermals have been dusted off, gloves dug out from the back of the cupboard and just to be sure I’ve had the possum fur ear flaps down on my hat. No sense in taking chances against the bitter frosts that have turned the landscape dazzling white with a touch of twinkle.
I couldn’t help venturing out to capture the wintery touch before the winter sunshine comes out at spoils all the fun. The bassets really enjoyed a romp in the frosty grass, more on that tomorrow!
Although I know that the parsnips and leeks will benefit from a touch of frost I’m not so sure that much else in the kitchen garden has enjoyed this cold snap.
