We are official at last – allowed to stay in New Zealand indefinitely and come and go as we please for the next two years. After that we need to apply again – and no doubt pay more money – to get an indefinite returning residents permit so we can come and go as we please forever.
Although we knew we’d been approved it’s quite something to see the stamps in the passports. Somehow makes it all more real.Â
In celebration of the residency and the fact that the sun was shiningI thought it was time to set to with the gorse again. There is a major bush right in the eye line from the bedroom window and it was starting to depress me every time I looked out. Whilst dead from Bob’s, my father in law, spraying earlier in the year, this bush still winked at me every day as if to say I’m here still spoiling your view.
This bush was also in the way for three trees to be planted and provide what the landscaper calls a “puntuation mark” in the design. The trees are sitting out by the barn getting blown over most days in the wind so there was an incentive to get them planted out. So here’s a bit of gorse magic!
NOW YOU SEE IT……
AND NOW YOU DON’T! THE VIEW IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW.
As always it’s hard just to get out one gorse bush. One tends to lead to another and then the satisfaction of seeing the land opening up just spurs you on for a few more bushes. The downside is of course I’ve created another gorse mountain for burning and it’s just not good burning weather at the moment.
THE PINK PEGS ARE WHERE THE TREES WILL BE PLANTED – CORDYLINE AUSTRALIS WILL SOON PUNCTUATE THAT PART OF THE GARDEN
