I’m not sure it’s a good thing when this happens to your Bok Choi. One day they were growing leaves and the next moment I turn and look they are sprouting flowers. Pesky things.
There is plenty of growth in the potager right now on account of the extreme rain and sun we’ve been having in the last few days. Needless to say I’ll take the sun all day every day but happy to leave the rain for an overnight appearance.
I was worried that my over winter growing experiment was going to be a washout but I’m delighted to say that I think that the plants may be over the worst and now ready for Spring which is after all only just around the corner.
I still get a little excited to see the garlic coming up. Just in case you ar wondering the tall shoots are the garlic not the grass like interlopers!
The garlic is not to be confused with the new crop of leeks starting to show signs of stamina. They were like angel hair when I planted them into the ground and was not optimistic of their success. But how wrong they are proving me right now.
The flat leaf parsley had a good hair cut a few weeks ago and it’s done it the world of good. It won’t be long before I’ll be dashing out during dinner cooking to grab a handful again.
I’m started to see signs of a decent sign onion too.
All in all I’m quite chuffed with out how things are right now in the potager. There is plenty of growth and I’m hoping that they will last till for a few more weeks so we’ll really be enjoying a Spring time harvest.
I’m really going to have to start planning out what seeds I’ll be planting and when in the Spring. Although it tells you how long it takes to grow I admit I’ve been a bit haphazard with taking any notice. Also, the winter everything grows much more slowly.
Although I like to show off what’s happening in the garden it is always a clear reminder I need to get out with the hoe. But not today, too busy catching up with work and domestics before the final push of work at the end of the week.
