Slowly but surely we’re building up the courage to plant a broader range of colourful plants in the garden. For the first time ever I planted sweet peas and after weeks of rambling up their wigwams they are finally starting to burst into colourful flowers. No doubt that having a dash of colour about the place lifts the spirits.
Being back at work is taking some getting used to. It’s the height of activity on the land so it’s frustrating to be sitting in the office and knowing that I have stuff to do outdoors. Now the weekend is here and we can get stuck in the weather keeps turning on us and bringing rain and drizzle up the valley the moment I load up the barrow with intentions to start work.
Whilst rain stopped play I retreated to the comfort of the barn and potting up some winter veg seedlings. Probably a bit late to get them going but with the warm muggy weather I’m counting on speedy germination. Can’t help but feel that next Spring I might be going overboard with sowing flower seeds as well for a cutting flowers and branching out to a few colourful pots on the verandas. My only worry is whether they will be safe from the ravages of the rabbits that can’t be trusted not to scoff the lot.
