Commonly known as The Judas Tree our Cercis Siliquastrum is getting into flower. It’s a proliferation of pink flowers and really brightening up our garden. It’s a great distraction from the pile of top soil next to it!
Today the sun came out and everything looks a lot lot brighter. I’ve started to notice more and more stuff popping up in the garden. Mainly weeds it has to be said but it’s a well known fact that a weed is simply a plant just not in the place you want it!
I’ve just found a macro button on my camera and thought I’d share with you a couple of shots I took.
Here’s a close up of the flowers on the Judas Tree.
Here’s some flowers on the Potato Vine in the new raised bed.
Now zooming back out on the Solanum Jasminoides (Potato Vine)
Still a riot of pink flowers in the front beds
And a final shot on the grasses – Chionochloa Flavicans – that has just kicked out it’s first flowers!
Oh go on, here’s the macro look!
Can you see how I’m bandying about horticultural and photographic terms like a pro. Pity I forget them promptly the moment I post this blog.
Any aids to failing memory would be much appreciated!
Your flower beds are looking pretty colourful, and this is only the first year. Who cares about names anyway? My Pete has simplified things down to calling everything with a long leaf – grass, and everything else – cabbage! You can tell he’s not really a gardener though he did do a lot of the hard landscaping here.
Yey for macro! Oh I am soooo jealous, I had all these wonderful plans of colours and wild plant choices but I am too worried about Mr Denver getting his paws on them. I will have to wait till next year when hopefully he will behave himself better. Enjoy, they all look so gorgeous!! x
