I swear that I saw the pine trees in the forestry block next foor growing inches before my very eyes this week. It’s ideal growing conditions, warm and wet – quite tropical really in a Wellingtonian sort of way.  I was excited to know what was happening down in the kitchen garden although terrified though that the windy conditions had played havoc with my brassicas.
Low and behold look what I found when I plucked up the courage to venture forth. A Kohlrabi which I am loving on purely on aesthetic terms. I’ve never grown or eaten Kohlrabi before but decided to give it ago on recommendation of Madelene of The British Larder who recommends a salad that I can’t wait to try out.   I never thought I’d get so revved up about a cabbage but there you are!
