The rain has done wonders for the vegetable patch. The plants have grown much taller and I’ve got a broccoli sprouting. It’s so exciting I can tell you. This is the first time I’ve grown a broccoli, aren’t they wonderful!
Now all I need is for the others to sprout and this one to grow bigger than a mouthful.
Here’s the row of broccoli that are bursting with life.
The carrots to the left are doing pretty well too! I’ve not been that successful at growing carrots in the past so I’m keeping my expectations low.
I battled with the rain and wind to tie up the peas. What a dedicated Gardener I am. Stupid really, I should have done it before and when the wind started to pick up I thought they may go the same way as my cauliflower!
This is what happens when you want to get a nicer picture of the pea canes. Someone’s shadow gets in the way! Wonder who that might be?
But it’s not all rosy in the garden. Here’s the view down the valley when I turned around.
I think it looks mean and moody. It was in fact the first blue sky for a couple of days. Hopefully the southerly storm means we’ll have a few fine days. How do you fancy our chances for a warm Christmas?
Well according to the Metservice Welly is due for everything on Thursday, rain, wind, sunshine and clouds. Maybe they are just covering their backs to everyones big question on the Christmas Day weather!?
Your garden is lovely, I could no longer stand it and have planted a small patch of my own. Seeing everyone elses creations was driving me mad. We now have brocolli, cauliflower, runner beans, chili, capsicum, strawberries, heaps of tomatos, and we have now successfully planted the blueberry, tamarillo and grapfruit trees. I am like you though, I must check on them 4 times a day to see what has grown!!
xx
Congratulations! What a wonderful harvest you’re growing and though sun isn’t looking likely for Christmas Day tomorrow (eeks, it’s now, today, already! – must go to bed!) the garden is loving it! We only have a small planting, but they’re growing well and nearly ready to harvest, yummy! Have a wonderful Kiwi Christmas! Best wishes, Family Lee x
Thanks Sarah, it’s nature wonderful. This is certainly nothing to do with my efforts. I just look worried out the window every day and hope that the wind doesn’t blow them all away!
