I give in. No, I mean it. You’ve defeated me and I’m just going to have to get used to the fact that I’m a failed lawn gardener.
But don’t get me wrong. I can grow grass – I seem to be particularly adapt at growing it in the house guttering (or spouting as it’s called in kiwi). But I just can’t grow the grass where I want. On the lawn, behind the house to give us a smooth and sleek croquet lawn.
My reseeding efforts have stalled due to the lack of rain. I feel we’re destined to have a cartoon lawn forever. No doubt it made me laugh to see this grass peeking out of the roof.
At least the rest of the garden is blooming. Small white flowers have just appeared in the Ligertia Perigrinans.
The day lillies have been rescued from underneath the Hemerocallis Stella D-Oro that is romping away in the front bed.
I need to now move some grasses to fine tune the layout but for the moment they can stay a little chaotic.
The grass and the trees on the bank are starting to settle in too. This is paddock grass using seed still in the top soil so we’ll have to reseed again next season to give it a boost.
The good thing is that this bit doesn’t need mowing at least!
I laughed so much when I saw your photo of the grass in the guttering. We have exactly the same thing going on here!! As I sit here now I can see it poking out of the top of the garage gutter.
Everything else looks gorgeous though, after reading this I am once again heading out to try and sort out our weeds! x
