It’s not just the Irish roots in our household that make potatoes a staple food for us. Since I invested in a potato ricer it’s elevated the humble potato to an every day luxury food. I finally dug up the remaining main crop potatoes before the rain started to make them rot. I didn’t weigh the harvest but it was too heavy to lug up the garden but rather wheeled up in the wheelbarrow and then in one ginormous effort lifted into the back porch cupboard which will keep them dark and cool. I then locked and loaded the mouse traps before shutting the door. I’m not taking any chances with our earthly goods.
The very picture of bounty, Julie!
I love the thought of a mound of potatoes guarded by an army of mousetraps! Lovely.
I think it’s the garlic in store next to the spuds Sue that also helps to keep the vermin at bay!
