Since I’ve declared an early Spring it was appropriate that we had blue sky and what I think are some cool cloud formations over the hill. Beats the grey blanket that’s been causing all the trouble.
Having a holiday renewed my energies and enthusiasm for my Domestic Executive role. The dogs and I set out for an early walk. There was no time to waste before getting stuck in.
I won’t bore you with the details but I spent the entire day extracting dog hair from places I’d rather I didn’t have dog hair. What is it with these mutts that even when they aren’t allowed in parts of the house their winter woolly coats seem to find their way. I don’t recall this being highlighted as an issue on the instructions that came with them!
Still, they were banished outside to veranda duty whilst I was busy. It didn’t go down well but they did in the end settle down to some outdoor living. What I learned from my Spring cleaning bout was that we live in a large house that is going to take more than a quick spit and polish to keep it clean.
I am a bit of a Shaker at heart – everything has to have a place for you to be productive. At the moment we’ve not quite cracked that. So I’m declaring a campaign today to shakerise the house. Get it organised with all the necessary tools and practices to allow efficient and stress free homemaking.
Since my “get organised” post seemed to be very popular in terms of number of reasons I’ll keep you posted with my shaker campaign. For the moment though I need to whip up an express dinner a la Nigella for the man of the house who has had to endure his first day after holidays back in the rat race.
That sky is amazing, those clouds call to me, I wish I could fly to them. I like your shaker campaign idea, that’s going to be a lot of work, but I know how nice it is to have everything in their place.
