The birds are coming back and whilst there isn’t a quite a dawn chorus (apart from Rooster George) there is definitely a more Spring like feeling in the morning air. Day breaks have been spectacular this week and I took a few minutes to capture the sun rise from the front veranda.
Unlike the sun rises I photographed a couple of months ago. It’s definitely warmer now. And although there are still plenty of morning clouds around the glows are more golden. I can’t help it but I love the silhouette effect of the hills and trees around us. It really defines the landscape and reminds me how lucky we are to live where we do.
One day I’ll master putting together photo composites in photo shop. In the meantime, you’ll have to imagine you’re looking left from the hillside view.
It’s almost like a completely different view when you zoom in.
This was my favourite snapshop – morning sun, silhouette trees, hillside AND clouds. A winning combination.
The pair of parrots are back swooping in the bush and between us and our neighbours. Also, I’ve noticed this week that a pair of ducks are back waddling around in Maymourn. I suspect that they are a mating pair that have returned to their preferred breeding garden. This is what happened previously.
I know I’ve been saying it for a while but there is definitely Spring in the air now.
We have parrots too in our garden – plenty of signs in the local supermarket for missing ones!! x
Absolutely breathtaking photographs. Have you come across Skywatch Friday? Your photos would be a top hit there.
We too have heard the most amazing bird song around 7am. There are a few Australian Magpies in our neighbourhood who compete with the Tuis. It’s also been fabulous to open up the windows first thing in the morning, as the house has been getting so warm during the day. We’ve been throwing open the ranch slider doors and letting the fresh air through the house. It’s great to let the house air after winter (though of course we are still ‘officially’ in winter).
Looks like some rain for the weekend, but the garden really needs it, so I shan’t complain. Everything is growing like crazy. We will have to start adding ‘mow the lawn’ to our list of regular jobs to do!
gorgeous photos! the colours are amazing.
just a note: if you want to do a quick panorama, take overlapping shots and open them all in photoshop. go to the file menu:
file>automate>photomerge
layout = auto
source files = files>open files
make sure blend images together is checked and click ok.
the resulting file can be quite large and you’ll have to crop it, but it’s a great quick way to do a panorama shot.
