We have not had the heating on nearly so much in the last week so it’s definitely picking up weather wise.  It doesn’t take away from the fact that October was the coldest it’s been in New Zealand for 25 years.  I have high hopes for the rest of Spring and a long hot summer.  What a day dreamer I can be.

There were some murky mists around this morning with a very heavy dew.  Despite the chill it was a bright clean start to the day – perfect for dog walking and clearing the head before settling into the office for the day.  It’s days like today I count my blessings on how lucky I am to work from home and not have to deal with a long commute.  That’s not to say that those few steps from the kitchen to my office are not without their challenges.

Have you ever tried balancing a mug of coffee, plate of toast and a pile of papers whilst navigating over and around 60 kilos and several feet of basset hound jumping up at you to grab that treat they are convinced is for them?   My bassets are sorely disappointed every day.

Spring mist

Whilst I was delighting in the light and mist, the bassets had bigger problems on their paws.

The downside of walking in a heavy dew is that you can end up with wet feet.  Just imagine the impact on someone who doesn’t wear shoes and has a low slung carriage.

Fortnum

It doesn’t seem to bother Fortnum that much although Mason does tend dance a little as he walks along, clearly not enjoying being a dew sweeper.

Big Basset

You can’t blame him really all that wet and cold slapping around your face.

Mason

Poor little basset, you can see why he would rather being an indoor dog.  He’s more a pipe and slippers basset and dealing with this level of damp who can blame him.
