Travelling light is an alien concept to me. It doesn’t matter where or when I’ve travelled in the world I always seem to wind up lugging a dead weight of luggage around with me. My overnight trip to Auckland was no exception although this time is was most definitely the weight of technology that weighed me down. That and my girlie toiletries!
Laptop, iPod, cell phone, camera, lenses and power leads for all said technology. Although I did use this e-paraphernalia I might look to be more discerning in future. The one thing I wouldn’t do without though is my camera. Being in a different environment connected me with my camera again in a new and exciting way. Pity I didn’t have much time for photography per say but I made the most of a ferry ride to see the view of Auckland I like best. Travelling away from it!
Oooo, meow! 😉 But the lovely photo makes up for it!
Seriously, over the years I’ve written more about New Zealand than Auckland and I realised recently that I really ought to post more about why I do love living in Auckland when so many of the expats I’ve met do not (your photo hints at one of the reasons).
Thanks for posting such a great photo!
I am most definitely interested in why people like Auckland. Personally I like a city to have a heart and that’s what’s missing for me. There are some great suburbs but as a City, Auckland just doesn’t work for me.
Be careful with all those power cords – Hubby got stopped and searched twice on our recent trips out of the country for having too many electronics in his bags.
And because I was then stood around waiting for him, I got hauled in to be tested for Explosives. Both times.
All becuase of said Laptops, iPhones and chargers.
🙂 You gotta laugh!
You guys have such bad luck – I am however much more cautious travelling overseas, especially through the US. JT
Ah, sorry to hear you didn’t get time to chill out on the island – I’m not so green with envy now 😉
Had to laugh reading Avalon’s comment – but scary too!
The sky in this photo is INCREDIBLE! Did you use some kind of filter?
Hi Sarah – no filters, just straight from the camera and processed through aperture. It was indeed a beautiful sky!
