The pumpkin patch has been attracting my attention all week – flashing that deep orange colour and demanding to be lifted off the ground and into my kitchen. Today I relented and scooped up my pumpkins. Well actually I grappled with them from the ground and... Summer is still kicking out Autumn which is knocking determinedly at it’s door. It’s been a pleasure to enjoy the garden that’s basking in sunshine. As if to celebrate we’ve a new bloom in the kitchen garden – a globe artichoke. ... I embarrassed to admit that yesterday was the first time I’d been down to the kitchen garden all week. It’s been so full on that even the 300 step journey was a step too far. After pounding winds and rain on Friday I was also fearful of what I might... I can’t help be disappointed that those autumnal signs are starting to appear. Darker mornings, shorter days and the pumpkins waving their bright colours around in the kitchen garden. Whilst I’m up a shift to new seasonal food bounty I’m not ready... As the evening sun danced across the kitchen garden I was stuck by how close it has come towards the romantic idea I had in my head. A magical place which would not just produce food but be a place of solace. Although I still feel very much in the experimentation...
