Dogs generally sleep for half the day and sometimes more. Fortnum and Mason fall into the more rather than less sleep category enjoying a snooze all day if they can. Certainly on my working at home days they do sleep or doze for as long as I’m at my desk – normally 5-7 hours at a stretch. Admittedly they will leap to follow if I head to the kitchen but otherwise the only movement is to have a scratch and lift their head momentarily to see if I am still in the room.
With another dog staying with us for the week there is rather more basset activity than normal with plenty of play and general hooning around. But boy do they sleep soundly when the settle down.
There is nothing better than a basset asleep. All those wrinkles relax and gravity does it’s thing. It’s the perfect time to snap my otherwise camera shy little basset.
they look sweet when they’re sleeping. and the wrinkles do give them the appearance of “melting” into a peaceful position
“Melting” – what a perfect description!
