I have a new strategy for wearing out the bassets.  Take them on a walk with the neighbours dogs.  Today we did our regular loop walk in only 60 minutes when it normally takes us around 80-90.

These two boys are in love with their new friends and ran almost the whole way around.  That’s up and down hills, in an out of hedges and of course through the biggest muddiest puddles around.

But these two bassets stick together at all times.  Just in case these new found friends turn nasty.

Our new mates

There is a problem being a big dog on short legs.  You can get left behind when the chase begins.

Mason on the chase

Or in Fortnum’s case you can be left a long way around.

Last again Fortnum

Fortnum’s not taking any chances though in case he gets bowled over by his spaniel friend who is really motoring.  To fast for me to capture clearly on film.

Jeronemo

There is no doubt that the bassets are in love with this new girl friend. She’s real pretty.

Chelsea

Which is more than can be said for my excited and exhausted bassets who had so much fun today wading through the mud.

Basset mud making

I can tell you who wasn’t allowed in the house till they’d been washed and dried off today.  But hey it’s only mud and when you’re out with your friends you get to show off a bit more than you normally would.
