Over the last couple of days we’ve been re-bonding as a pack. This includes and incessant amount of attention seeking, requests for neck rubbing and a general trailing me around the house. It’s nice to be wanted even if 70kg of bassets can be painful as they both want to become lap dogs.
Our morning walks the last couple of days have been a great sanity check for me – a reminder that whatever else maybe happening in the world the basset’s priorities haven’t change one little bit. Sniff, run, eat and snooze. Who can blame them for wanting a life of simple pleasures.
With the weekend ahead of us I’m looking forward to more normality – vegetables to tend, chickens to feed and acres of weeds to tackle. The perfect tonic to me for returning to normal life next week – never thought I’d value normal life as much as I do right now.
