Procrastination is one of my favourite things – I can find all sorts of reasons and activities to put off doing the really hard stuff.  All week I’ve been avoiding writing a pitch document for some new work.  It’s potentially a great gig but to earn the chance to do it you have to jump through the bureaucratic hoops of Government departments. They ask for all sorts of information right down to which might be your preferred colour of socks you might wear to the first appointment should you be lucky enough to be awarded the contract.  I joke but it feels a little like that.

I understand fully the need for transparent, fair and robust processes of procurement.  I was on the other side of the fence for long enough but sheesh I did not realise the full extend of the time, effort and energy it really takes to pitch for business.  But that’s the way the system works and if you want to be in to win you must play the game.

So I started today with good intentions but got a little sidetracked the moment the bassets and I stepped out for our morning walk.  The morning light was beautiful and I couldn’t resist taking out my camera for some fun.  I know all about what the early birds get but once again I’ll be pushing myself up against a deadline when the procrastination will have to turn into action.  As it always does.  Whether I catch the worm we’ll just have to see.
