There are few things that stop me in my tracks than a stunning sun set out the kitchen window. It’s been a while since there has been such an arresting view. This captivated me as the sun line spanned across the valley last Saturday – it was an awesome sight. Even if it was darn cold going out there to capture this shot.
I really must mug up on photographing sunsets. We get so many beautiful ones to capture. I feel warmer just looking back at the ones we had earlier in the year.
No content with sunsets, I captured these this morning as the sun came up over the mountains. It was something quite special. I was hopeful that the freezing temperatures at dawn would translate into something warmer during the day.
I wasn’t disappointed. That’s the wonder of New Zealand – when the sun shines it’s a powerful thing. The silhouette of the trees was so vivid. I actually sat down to admire this for a while.
Not for too long though, that sun wasn’t quite up and the chickens were wanting their breakfast.
It seems that even the kiwis are complaining about winter. Whingeing more than the pommes even. It’s started earlier and harder and people tell me that snow in Wellington, that’s a rare thing indeed.
Give me cold any day. It’s the wet and the wind that gets me down. I think that the bassets may disagree though as it’s never much fun to dip to make one more comfortable when there is a frost on the ground. It’s time like this I think the bassets wished they lifted their legs instead!
STUNNING! I’m so enjoying the sun this week. I don’t mind the cold at all – just layering up with my thermals on underneath! We are having a lovely week here, with lots of outdoor activities and even some clearing up in the garden after the storms. Thank you for the fabulous photos.
Wow.
We don’t get the sunset here, it dips behind Northland about 4pm at the mo. In the UK we used to get great sunrises, and having young kids, we were always up for them. I miss that.
These are stunning (as Sarah says).
