Mason’s our little basset. What he lacks in size he makes up with in mischief. At almost 10 months old though he is developing “small man syndrome”.
For a very long time he’s been a slim, trim basset with fine features. But as he’s grown he’s started to shape up into an handsome basset and starting to get a fine pair of basset jowls. He has on occasion also got big hips which is my signal to change the diet sheet once again.Â
Mason is the smart dog in our house. Always looking for new and clever ways to get our attention. The day can’t really start before he’s run around the kitchen and family room looking for things to grab and run away with. We’ve learned though and unless you want a major sprint early in the morning to put everything out of sight and reach from him. It’s amazing given his legs are only a few inches tall how he can balance on his back legs and let his long back take him to the higher levels!
Some say Mason is cunning and to be honest I think I have to agree. He is however turning into quite a lovable little package to have around. He is however an attention seeker and this can be painful as he paws at your shins with his big feet to get a neck or belly rub.
His favourite place is to sit on the sofa. This is of course completely off basset limits but that makes it all the more fun. It also takes him to places that Fortnum just can’t reach, it makes him top dog and that’s all really Mason cares about.
Generally camera shy, Mason did play the game this weekend. He posed beautifully for us and here’s the results for you to enjoy!
At the top of this post you’ll see the “don’t bother me I’m thinking” pose.
Here’s the “don’t mess with me, I’m mean” pose
And finally here’s the “I can be cute as well as cunning” pose. Note the ring of mud around the nose, the result of plenty of mischief I can tell you!
That last one makes me laugh out loud. But then I guess you have to know that that pose strikes all that’s mischievous in Mason to really get the joke!
Sez to me, you think that you have got my measure pose
. Huh you think you know it all pose, just you wait pose. Have to say your pups are doing you proud, two handsome boys
Hi Eveline
This little fella is a complex character so who knows what he’s thinking but it’s usual mischief there’s no doubt in that!
